The Climate Tech Startups to Watch This Month: November Week 2

November week 2, 2022: In this monthly series, we are doing a weekly feature of incredible climate tech startups, companies, or projects that are leading the fight against the climate crisis.

Each month, we add these startups to our running list, which we have categorized based on fuel emission sector data from the most detailed, recent data SBC could identify from the World Resource Institute in 2016.

This initiative from Startup Basecamp aims to support founders by giving them access to networking and exposure opportunities that help them to scale and finance their climate tech solutions.

2021 – Tulln, Austria

Victor Tibo, Martin Miltner, Stefan Beisl, and Angela Miltner

Elevator Pitch:
Lignovations develops high-performance ingredients from biomass.

Problem they solve:
Lignovations patented technology makes consumer products more sustainable by unlocking the natural power of Lignin. In nature, Lignin protects plants from negative influences such as UV radiation, oxidation and microbial attacks.

We make these protective properties usable for high-value applications through the world’s first commercially available Colloidal Lignin Particles, providing the industry with sustainable and powerful functional ingredients.

Lignovations’ material is completely natural. We source our lignin from modern biorefineries that primarily use hardwood residues and wheat straw as feedstock. Over 50 million tons of wood waste accumulate in the EU every year. Imagine if we could turn all this material into useful functional ingredients.
